CARPATHIAN MOUNTAINS WINTER HIKING TOUR
The difficulty level of this PRIVATE hiking tour is medium to hard.
Trip Highlights:

Day 1: Bucharest – Zarnesti – Curmatura Hut
Early morning departure from your hotel in Bucharest. We drive for 3 hours taking one of the most picturesque along Prahova Valley. This famous valley is a narrow corridor between Transylvania and Wallachia, an ancient route which crosses The Southern Carpathian Mountains along Bucegi Massif, making it one of the most visited routes in Romania.
Once we reach Zarnesti city we can stop to a supermarket to buy the last thing we need for this two days hiking adventure.
Before starting our hike we can fill the bottles with fresh water coming from a mountain spring. Starting from Botorog Fountain, the trail to the Curmatura hut can be completed in 3-4 hours. After a relatively easy climb through the forest, you get to Zanoaga Meadow, scattered with rocks, where you can already admire the imposing peaks of Piatra Craiului National Park.
INFO! On winter time the Curmatura Hut rooms are heated with wood, but we advise you to have a sleeping bag. On request we can provide sleeping bags to. Finding water in Piatra Craiului Mountains can be very hard, but a source of water is situated near Curmatura hut, so be sure that you have enough water when you leave from the hut. Curmatura hut is located at an altitude of 1470 meters, in a glade where the view of the surrounding area is just like in a fairytale. Here you can serve dinner as well as hot drinks and sleep on the bunk beds but withs sheets, pillow and mattress.
Overnight at guesthouse or pension. The hut does not have showers or toilets.
Day 2: Curmatura Hut – Piatra Mica – Bucharest
After breakfast we will decide which trail we can take but this depends on your physical strength, equipment, weathercast. One of our proposal is short hike, of less than 2 hours to the Small Stone of Piatra Mica Peak 1816m. This point will offer stunning views over the whole Massif of Piatra Craiului, Zarnesti City and the remote mountain villages. Depending on the trail we will decide to take we can provide ropes and harnesses if we consider that necessary. After this climb we will descend to the car.
Details about hiking tour in Prince`s Stone Massif:
- Optimal time: December – March;
- For this tour you need winter hiking shoes and no running shoes;
- Rain jacket and a few other layer of clothes;
- Number of participants: minimum 2, maximum 8;
transportation is made by car (Bucharest- Zarnesti- Bucharest) - Mountain tour requires a very good physical shape, with resistance to hard effort;
accommodation is done in mountain hut at bunk bad; - Licensed mountain guide during the entire hiking/trekking tour;
- The route could be change because of the weather conditions.
- On request we can provide sleeping bags, leg gaiters, mountain harness.
