Trip Highlights:

  • Go underground into Slanic Prahova Salt Mine
  • Visit the vineyards of Dealu Mare
  • Taste the famous wines of Romania
  • Visit the manor of one of the wealthiest 19th century family

First stop of the day will be Slanic Prahova salt mine. Nowadays, this salt mine is closed for extraction purposes, but is open for visitors, featuring a microclimate with natural air-conditioning and constant temperature and atmospheric pressure throughout the year. It is an old salt mine that was exploited since long time ago, and today is an impressive museum.

One of the chambers is a salt museum named Genesis Hall it hosts the busts in salt of Decebalus, King of Dacia and Traian Emperor. There are also other salt sculptures in the mine, such as the bust of the famous Romanian national poet Mihai Eminescu, or a bas-relief of the historical character Mihai Viteazul.  Some of the mine chambers were transformed in sport courts where athletes perform their trainings. The inside temperature reaches 12 degrees Celsius.

After the salt mine visit, we depart towards Dealu Mare wine region. Wines made along the 45th parallel, position Dealu Mare Region at the same level with Bordeaux, as well as the Toscana vineyards, and the wines produced here are prestigious for their rich, complex and silken taste.

We will have the chance to serve the lunch and taste some finest romanian wines in the Old Manor of Urlateanu. Not far from Urleateanu Manor it`s a splendid museum that hosts an important mix of art and decorative items. Visitors can find here many pieces of ceramics, Romanian carpets, stone-carved columns, rare luxury edition books, 19th century paintings, furniture from various epochs, chandeliers, Oriental and Far East art items, and weapons.

Our wine tour continue with the visit of some famous Romanian wine cellars. The two wineries you will visit on this wine tour represent a variety of grapes, specialties, winemaking styles, and size of operation, giving you a well-rounded wine country experience and lots of new favorite wines to add to your shopping list.

We conclude the day with a photo stop to the Stone church from where you can admire the whole wine region of Dealu Mare and some remote villages. After this wonderful experience we are coming back to your hotel in Bucharest.
